Job Description:
Coordination of Chemistry facilities maintenance
Frequently walks and checks all chemistry spaces to identify potential or current problems. Interfaces with UF Facilities Services Work Management and the assigned maintenance shops/trades to resolve issues with any building maintenance including building envelope leaks, heat and air conditioning, steam, chilled water, domestic water, wastewater, other plumbing (including natural gas, Dl water, nitrogen, compressed air, and vacuum), electrical service, and the operation of fume hoods.
Reviews incoming departmental work orders, first investigates problems, determine appropriate repair agency (Facilities Services, Chemistry staff or outside vendor), then initiate proper repair requests, monitor the progress of repairs, ensures repairs are satisfactorily completed, and communicate with user groups on progress and status.
Chemistry departmental preventive maintenance
At the direction of the maintenance manager, performs weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual preventative maintenance of classroom and lab ice machines, De-I water systems (filters, pumps and water lines), breakroom refrigerators, departmental cold rooms, etc. Performs routine inspections of critical infrastructure to assess current or future problems. Equipment includes lab air compressors, autoclaves, HVAC, lightning, fume hoods etc. Will be responsible for plumbing repair of all gases, compressed air, and water to lab/classroom fume hoods.
Moves, lab closeout, other departmental operations
Assists with configuring space to meet needs. This encompasses assisting with the receipt and transport of equipment and instruments, including uncrating; cleaning out and disposing/recycling of unneeded equipment, files/books, furniture and other space contents (excluding chemicals). Assists space occupants with identifying, procuring, and transporting equipment of furnishings from UF’s surplus warehouse. Will also be responsible for installation of whiteboards, bulletin boards, chalkboards, gas cylinder racks, connecting new equipment to departmental infrastructure and other installs as needed.

Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent and two years of relevant experience. Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Preferred:
Building construction experience; building maintenance including carpentry or handyman skills, experience using computers, experience interacting with a variety of different customers and vendors.
