Job Overview
Reporting to the Vice President for UF Advancement, the Associate Vice President/Chief Development Officer (AVP/CDO) serves as an integral member of the Advancement senior executive leadership team. The AVP/CDO designs, executes, and continuously optimizes the university’s comprehensive fundraising strategy, providing strategic oversight of all philanthropic initiatives, including major gifts, corporate and foundation relations, gift planning, principal gifts, and multi‑year fundraising campaigns.
The role ensures alignment between fundraising priorities and institutional goals, drives revenue growth, strengthens donor engagement, and fosters a high‑performing advancement culture that supports long‑term, sustainable success.
- Architect and implement fundraising strategies in partnership with the Vice President for UF Advancement, deans, and senior academic leaders.
- Provide strategic oversight of all philanthropic initiatives, including major gifts, corporate and foundation relations, gift planning, and principal gifts.
- Lead the multi‑year fundraising campaign, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and driving revenue growth.
- Monitor and report on fundraising results, including campaign progress and total commitments, and recommend course corrections.
- Personally manage a portfolio of major and principal gift prospects, cultivating meaningful alumni, volunteer, and donor engagement.
- Strengthen partnerships across campus and build a high‑performance, data‑informed advancement culture that supports sustainable growth.
- Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of appropriate experience; or master’s degree and 8 years of appropriate experience.
- Demonstrated success soliciting gifts at $1 million and above in a higher‑education institution.
- Broad background acceptable; candidates who may not meet every qualification but can contribute to UF are encouraged to apply.
Salary range: $325,000 to $375,000.
