About the Role
Position oversees the comprehensive project management and timely coordination and accomplishment of all assigned NGHS facility construction projects. The Senior Project Manager also provides resource support and mentorship to other Project Managers and department staff, assisting in all aspects of the capital project and space planning program.
Minimum Job Qualifications- Licensure or other certifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or Professional Engineering. An associate degree combined with four additional years of industry experience may be considered. - Minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in project management, including at least eight (8) years of experience in acute‑care healthcare projects such as healthcare renovation, additions, and ground‑up new construction.
- Experience managing projects with budgets of $5million or higher and the ability to concurrently manage multiple projects.
- Certifications:
Certified Healthcare Constructor (CHC), Project Management Professional (PMP), Registered Architect or Professional Engineer. - Associate degree preferred.
- Manage design and construction for each assigned project, from scope definition and initial budget creation to user coordination, FFE procurement, installation, and occupancy close‑out.
- Provide planning assistance and direction to design partners (architects, MEP engineers, consultants, contractors) to ensure accurate budgeting and scope of work.
- Oversee day‑to‑day management of design and construction projects; monitor and coordinate work performed by architectural, engineering, consultant, and construction firms.
- Coordinate with project architects and other parties on correspondence, inspection reports, shop drawing submittals, change‑order processing, etc.
- Authorize issuance of contracts, purchase orders, and change orders; approve contractor invoices for payment.
- Coordinate permitting requirements with all State and Local authorities (AHJ’s) as required.
- Represent the system in all project‑management coordination and business interface matters with customers, consultants, contractors, and public/private agencies.
- Manage bid packaging and owner‑provided services buy‑out, including preparation of bid request documents, bid review, award, and issuance of purchase orders for owner‑direct procurement.
- Direct and coordinate work sequencing to expedite project delivery and minimize disruption of ongoing facility operations.
- Maintain and administer project budgets, cost estimating, value engineering, and fiscal/financial management principles and procedures.
- Develop and administer contracts, agreements, schedules, and quality‑control provisions for all projects.
- Ensure design and construction comply with applicable codes and regulatory agencies.
- Maintain comprehensive project tracking reports and digital records for quick retrieval.
- Conduct jobsite visits, collect data, compile reports, and provide proactive updates to the Facilities Development Director on potential schedule variances.
- Conduct project meetings, coordinate activities, and manage compliance with life‑safety and other regulatory/safety requirements.
- Coordinate project close‑out, including permits, user documentation, as‑built drawings, and business occupancy certificates.
- Support the Director of Facilities Development with daily operational services for the department and office personnel.
- Perform other duties as assigned regarding oversight and management of construction operations.
