Program Manager – Division of Certified Public Accounting
Division of Certified Public Accounting is responsible for regulation of certified public accountants (CPAs) and accounting firms. This professional management position is located in the Gainesville Field Office within the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR).
Your Specific Responsibilities- Coordinate all aspects of Board, Probable Cause Panel, and Budget Task Force meetings, including securing meeting locations, arranging logistics such as lodging and a rental vehicle, preparing agendas and minutes, redacting confidential information, and ensuring all materials are complete and distributed on time. Travel with the director to these meetings is required.
- Supervise administrative staff by overseeing workflow, assigning tasks, evaluating performance, supporting employee development, implementing disciplinary or corrective actions, managing recruitment, and monitoring attendance and leave.
- Serve as the Division’s Budget Liaison by preparing annual and quarterly spending plans, conducting financial analyses, coordinating year‑end processing, reviewing contracts for compliance, and managing requisitions through My Florida Market Place or P‑Card purchasing.
- Act as the Division’s Rules Coordinator by reviewing rule making materials, maintaining official rule records, coordinating internal and external routing, and ensuring timely printing and distribution of all rules‑related materials. Represents the Division when coordinating rule making with the Department.
- Support External Affairs by preparing public records responses, assisting with Open Government correspondence, coordinating quarterly newsletters, and facilitating customer service resolutions.
- Oversee office operations, including facility maintenance coordination, landlord communication, support for the Office Manager, and monitoring of the Division’s Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) and training requirements.
- Represent the Division Director as assigned by conducting research, preparing correspondence and affidavits, managing board member information, assisting with board appointments, and completing special projects.
- Working knowledge of rules and statutes governing CPAs; principles and processes involved in business and organization planning, coordination and execution.
- Computer software proficiency, including OnBase and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication and administrative skills with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Research and analytical ability to represent the agency to external stakeholders.
- Strong customer service orientation with ability to interact in a tactful, courteous manner.
- Ability to organize, coordinate work assignments, maintain filing systems, and manage information electronically.
- Five (5) years of experience working within a local, state or federal regulatory program.
- Valid driver’s license and experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
- Current Division of Certified Public Accounting employee.
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in a related field.
- Selected Exempt Service position located within the Division of Certified Public Accounting.
- Office hours: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, one-hour lunch break. Flexible work schedules may be considered on a case‑by‑case basis.
- Regular travel every 6–8 weeks to attend Florida Board of Accountancy and Probable Cause meetings across the state, and possibly travel for outreach in the Unlicensed Activity Program.
- Travel requirements include travel with the director and possible out‑of‑state travel.
