Senior Associate Dean & Full Professor
The Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering (HWCOE) invites applications for the position of Senior Associate Dean of Engineering. This is an internal search open only to current University of Florida employees.
We seek an accomplished and collaborative academic leader to serve as the College's chief internal academic and administrative leader, partnering closely with the Dean to advance the College's strategic priorities and operational excellence. The Senior Associate Dean will provide leadership across academic affairs, research administration, faculty affairs, strategic recruiting, strategic planning and resource management while fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, organizational effectiveness, and continuous improvement of the college's operation to support faculty.
The successful candidate will possess a distinguished record of academic leadership, demonstrated success in managing complex organizations, and the ability to translate strategic vision into measurable outcomes. This individual will promote a culture of excellence, innovation, accountability, and collaboration while ensuring the College continues to excel in research, education, and service.
The Senior Associate Dean serves as the chief internal administrative and academic leader of the College and is a key strategic partner to the Dean. This position provides executive leadership for the College's academic, research, administrative, and operational functions while helping advance the College's mission of excellence in education, research, innovation, and public service.
The successful candidate will be a visionary, collaborative, and results-oriented leader with demonstrated success in higher education administration and faculty leadership. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional emotional intelligence, sound judgment, strategic thinking, outstanding communication skills, organizational leadership, integrity, and the ability to build consensus across diverse stakeholders.
Working closely with the Dean, department chairs, faculty, staff, students, and university leadership, the Senior Associate Dean will help position the College for continued national prominence while ensuring excellence in day-to-day operations and long-term strategic initiatives.
The Senior Associate Dean reports directly to the Dean of the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering and will:

Expected Salary:
Commensurate with education and experience
Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Engineering or a related field
- Rank of Full Professor
- Proven record of scholarship, research, innovation, and leadership
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to lead collaboratively across various groups (i.e. faculty, staff, and graduate students)
- A two-page letter of intent
- A current CV
