The Executive Director is the primary organizational leader of Florida Diabetes Camp and is responsible for advancing its mission, strengthening its infrastructure, and positioning FDC for long-term sustainability and growth.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director leads organizational strategy, fundraising, financial management, staff leadership, administration, partnerships, and year-round operations. The Executive Director works closely with the Medical Director, Board, staff, and volunteer leadership to ensure FDC’s programs remain safe, impactful, financially responsible, and aligned with the organization’s mission.

This position supervises the staff and volunteers and serves as a visible representative of the organization with campers, families, healthcare professionals, donors, partners, and the broader community.

    What We Are Looking For :

    1. Executive Leadership, Strategy & Culture:
    The Executive Director will establish clear priorities, create accountability, strengthen organizational systems, and foster a professional culture built on trust, transparency, respect, safety, and shared purpose. This leader must be comfortable navigating change and having difficult conversations when necessary. Success will require emotional intelligence, consistency, sound judgment, and the ability to bring people together.

    2. Fundraising, Development & Partnerships:
    The Executive Director will lead FDC’s fundraising strategy, with an emphasis on expanding philanthropy and other sustainable sources of revenue. This person will cultivate and steward current supporters while proactively developing new relationships capable of expanding FDC’s reach and financial strength. As one of FDC’s primary ambassadors, the Executive Director must be comfortable telling the organization’s story and building authentic relationships with donors, businesses, healthcare organizations, nonprofits, foundations, and community partners throughout Florida.

    3. Board Partnership & Organizational Governance:
    The Executive Director will develop a strong, transparent working partnership with the Board of Directors, helping translate strategic priorities into measurable organizational goals. The Executive Director will support effective governance while maintaining appropriate clarity between Board and staff responsibilities. This individual should be comfortable working with highly engaged volunteer leaders.

    4. Team & Volunteer Leadership: FDC depends on an unusual combination of year-round employees, medical professionals, camp leaders, and deeply committed volunteers. The Executive Director will recruit, supervise, coach, and develop staff while creating a culture of accountability throughout the organization.     5. Financial & Organizational Stewardship:
