Job Description:
The University of Florida College of Medicine is seeking a Director of Operations and Strategy to help lead the development and continued growth of the COM National Excellence Initiative for Quality and Patient Safety. The QPS Initiative (QPSi) will drive innovations to improve quality, patient safety, health care efficiency and workforce development through the application of UF’s computational strength in artificial intelligence.
The Director will work with QPSi and COM leadership to provide operational and strategic management support of the QPSi. Organizationally, the Director will work collaboratively with leadership in the QPSi and the College of Medicine to develop and implement training, research and experiential learning programs designed to drive improvements in quality of healthcare and patient safety, advance knowledge of healthcare delivery to reduce healthcare waste, and be a resource for workforce development.
The Director will guide and oversee project management, workflow development, fiscal and administrative management, and outreach strategies. The incumbent will ensure that the QPSi’s activities and resources advance the goals and vision of the College of Medicine’s strategic plan.
Program Development and Management:
- Provides management and administrative oversight for the continued growth of the QPSi, including the development and expansion of education and training programs, research initiatives, and other innovative activities for the university, community, state and nation.
- Works collaboratively with faculty and staff in the College of Medicine.
- Provides planning guidance and advice to QPSi leadership in the development and management of their initiatives.
- Works with the QPSi Communications Manager and the UF COM Communications office to promote the QPSi and its initiatives.
- Prepares and contributes to the development of reports and presentations to engage audiences and effectively communicate the QPSi vision, goals and objectives and progress on its activities
- Working with QPSi leadership, develop and support a culture of continuous quality improvement, shared efficiencies, and professionalism within the QPSi
- Lead and co-lead with QPSi leadership, special projects, as assigned by the Dean of the College of Medicine.
Operations and Administrative Management:
- Works in partnership with QPSi division leaders (e.g., Assistant and Associate Directors for AI/QI, training programs, value initiatives) on operational management, developing and implementing appropriate policies and procedures and maintaining appropriate staffing.
- Manages QPSi resources working in partnership with QPSi division leadership.
- Manages staffing and recruitment for the QPSi.
- Oversees planning discussions, program development, workflow development, fiscal and administrative management, and outreach strategies.
- Supervises staff under the QPSi administrative core and assists with the supervision of staff under other QPSi divisions (together with the appropriate Assistant or Associate Directors).
Strategic Planning and Implementation:
- Serves as a senior advisor to QPSi leadership providing context and background on issues.
