The University of Florida, College of Medicine, Department of Emergency Medicine (DEM), actively seeks a motivated and experienced individual to join us as the Assistant Director of Provider Workforce Strategy and Administration. The Assistant Director of Healthcare and Provider Workforce Administration leads workforce strategy and operations for the Department of Emergency Medicine, ensuring 24/7/365 coverage across all practice locations. Reporting to the Vice Chair of Administrative Affairs, this role manages scheduling approximately 60 daily shifts for physicians, fellows, clinical faculty, and APPs with a focus on optimizing utilization, productivity, documentation compliance, and performance outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Managing the PRN physician group, OPS, and locum tenens operations (onboarding, integration, and utilization)
• Leading workforce analytics and cross-functional projects
• Overseeing APP recruitment and the scribe program
• Enforcing timely note completion to support billing and compliance
• Supporting strategic planning, workforce projections, and emergency preparedness
• Advising on workforce policy to ensure alignment with institutional and regulatory standards

Provider Workforce Strategy and Leadership:

• Lead strategic workforce planning for physicians, faculty, fellows, and APPs
• Align workforce utilization with departmental, organizational, and patient care goals
• Oversee workforce analytics and scheduling performance metrics to guide provider deployment
• Lead the PRN physician group (~25% of workforce), ensuring effective deployment and integration
• Drive long-term workforce planning through forecasting and staffing projections
• Partner with departmental and health system leadership to align staffing with clinical priorities
• Oversee provider documentation compliance, monitoring timely note completion with clinical leadership
• Direct cross-functional projects to improve workforce efficiency, documentation compliance, and operational workflows
• Participate in emergency preparedness and disaster response planning for provider deployment

Clinical Scheduling and Operations Management:

• Oversee scheduling operations ensuring 24/7/365 coverage across five clinical sites
• Manage approximately 60 daily shifts across emergency, observation, and inpatient care
• Oversee real-time staffing adjustments based on patient volume, acuity, and operational needs
• Review and approve leave requests per guidelines while maintaining site coverage
• Collaborate with the Administrator on Call and site/clinical leadership to resolve urgent staffing issues
• Oversee OPS and locum tenens scheduling, onboarding, and utilization tracking
• Ensure accurate implementation of faculty effort allocations and assignment changes in schedules
• Coordinate scheduling workflows that reinforce timely, complete provider documentation

Program Oversight and Operational Support:

• Lead operational reporting on staffing utilization, coverage trends, and workforce analytics
• Direct recruitment, onboarding, and education processes for APPs
• Supervise the departmental scribe program and associated staff
• Lead special projects within provider workforce administration
