The Opportunity
The University of Florida College of Medicine is seeking an accomplished and highly strategic leader to serve as Chief of Staff to the Dean.
The Chief of Staff serves as a senior advisor and operational partner to the Dean and as a member of the College’s executive leadership, including the Dean’s Cabinet and College of Medicine Executive Leadership. Working alongside the Dean, Senior Associate Deans, and Finance, Human Resources, Communications, and other College leaders, the Chief of Staff contributes to College-wide decision-making and priority setting while connecting people, priorities, and resources and helping translate strategic direction into coordinated action.
This highly visible leadership role requires exceptional judgment, discretion, executive presence, and organizational acumen. The successful candidate will be a trusted advisor, skilled integrator, and strong relationship builder who can navigate a complex academic health environment, bring the right leaders and perspectives together, and move important priorities from discussion to execution.
Key Responsibilities- Executive Leadership and Advising
:
Serve as a member of the College’s executive leadership, actively contributing to College-wide discussion, decision-making, priority setting, and execution. Advise the Dean on complex strategic, operational, organizational, and institutional matters. - Integration and Alignment
:
Connect leaders, priorities, and perspectives across academic and administrative areas, UF, and UF Health. Partner closely with Finance, Human Resources, Communications, Senior Associate Deans, and other leaders to advance College priorities. - Strategic Priorities and Execution
:
Champion high-impact strategic initiatives and facilitate coordinated execution, accountability, and follow-through across organizational and functional boundaries. - Dean’s Office Leadership
:
Lead the administrative and operational effectiveness of the Office of the Dean, including supervision and development of assigned staff. - Executive Communications and Engagement
:
Support executive communications, governance, and engagement on significant and sensitive matters, exercising sound judgment regarding audience, timing, context, and information sharing. - Relationships and Representation
:
Build trusted relationships across the College, University, UF Health, and key external partners and represent the Dean on institutional matters within delegated authority.
Salary will be commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.
Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience, or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and eight years of experience.
