- Student Assistant (Communications & Administrative Support)
Assist the Marketing and Communications Specialist with updating and maintaining the department website. Create and edit photos, graphics, and other visual materials using software such as Adobe Photoshop and Canva. Assist with developing and publishing content for departmental social media platforms, including Instagram, Linked In, and Facebook. Support departmental communications efforts, including drafting announcements, and promotional content. Assist with planning and supporting departmental events, seminars, meetings, and outreach activities.
Perform data entry, filing, document preparation, and other general office tasks.
Expected Salary: $15.00 hour
Demonstrated interest in communications, marketing, public relations and scientific research. Experience with, or willingness to learn, website maintenance using a content management system (CMS). Basic graphic design and photo-editing experience. Experience managing or creating content for social media platforms. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Previous office, administrative, customer service, or communications experience preferred. Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively in a team environment. Professionalism, reliability, and a positive customer-service-oriented attitude. This position is ideal for students interested in gaining experience in communications, marketing, event coordination, and office administration within a higher education and research environment.
