Donor Research Coordinator

Salary: $39,409. Subject to criminal background check.

Job Summary

This position directs, plans, and organizes activities for prospect identification, analysis, and implementation of strategies to support Foundation goals; serves as the principal authority on prospect research and philanthropic trends. Manages and implements alumni outreach and prospect management and tracking system. Plans, organizes, coordinates, and implements prospect research programs, policies, and goals to ensure Foundation has adequate prospect information to achieve its fundraising objectives.

Responsibilities

and Duties
  • Responsible for the Prospect Research & Analytics function of the college and foundation including data collection for current donors as well as prospective donors.
  • Manages and implements prospect management and tracking system to record donor and donation information. Assists with alumni outreach efforts.
  • Develops short term strategic plans for prospect development and research that align with fundraising priorities; plans, implements and manages strategies to identify, rate, assign and track prospects with the capacity to make gifts.
  • Develops policies to ensure data collection conforms to ethical principles, confidentiality.
  • Manages the assignment of newly identified prospects and ensures Foundation major and principal gift activity is coordinated and prospects are moved successfully through the fundraising cycle; develops and implements policies and standards for donor/prospect research projects with the primary focus on major and principal gifts.
  • Initiates and manages efforts to develop prospect pools and to provide strategic information on individuals, corporations and foundations to development officers and senior Foundation leadership. Develop reports to share with appropriate fundraising staff.
  • Develops and implements proactive strategies for discovering new sources of funding for priority initiatives; develops systems and processes to ensure these prospects are actively moved through the cultivation process; meets regularly with Foundation development officers to assess core priorities.
  • Prepares annual strategic business plan and budget for incorporation into the overall Foundation operating plan and budget; serves as the Foundation resource for prospect clearance and management for cultivation and solicitation of major and principal gift prospects.
  • Provides consultation to development officers to assemble a comprehensive prospect base for approved campaigns and initiatives and ensure an adequate number of prospects to support organization fundraising priorities.
  • Participates at an appropriate level in professional associations such as APRA, AHP and/or CASE in order to increase knowledge and skills and stay abreast of industry trends and concerns; trains staff in research methodology and most efficient and economical means to utilize resources.
  • Other duties as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change based on the needs of the department and the institution.
Required Skills & Abilities
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with others, including those within division and across college populations.
  • Proficient in software applications including Blackbaud Raiseredge and Financialedge; serve as a point of contact for software implementation process and subject matter expert.
  • Must be knowledgeable identifying funding prospects, and how those match college initiatives.
  • Familiar with the various services for wealth screening such as wealth engine, donor search and analyzing reports.
  • Ability to create email campaigns, newsletters and social media outreach campaigns.
  • Alumni outreach and ability to manage and motivate groups of students, alumni and community volunteers.
Required Experience
  • Two (2) years’ of application development, multi-server environments, database administration, or related experience required.
  • Alumni relations, non-profit organization, or higher education environment managing electronic communications or related experience required.
Preferred Experience
  • Prospect management and tracking software to record donor and donation information preferred.
  • Donor prospect research and identification preferred.
  • Management / leadership experience preferred.
