Job Title:
Float Pool Registered Nurse (Medical-Surgical)
Location: Gainesville, FL 32614
Schedule: Full-Time | 3×12-hour shifts
Shifts Available:
- Days: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM (Rotating Weekends)
- Nights: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (Rotating Weekends)
A large acute care hospital in North Central Florida is seeking an experienced Float Pool Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN).
This role offers the opportunity to work across multiple inpatient medical-surgical units, providing high-quality, patient-centered care while adapting to varying clinical environments.
This position is ideal for nurses who are flexible, clinically confident, and thrive in fast-paced hospital settings.
Important Notes
- Candidates must live within a commutable distance of the facility (no more than 60 minutes)
- Must be comfortable with a 7:1 nurse-to-patient ratio
- In-person interview required prior to offer (may include shadowing and facility tour)
- Floating is limited to medical-surgical units only
- Deliver safe, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and develop appropriate nursing diagnoses
- Implement and evaluate individualized care plans with a focus on continuous improvement
- Serve as a patient and family advocate, maintaining privacy and confidentiality at all times
- Adapt quickly to different unit workflows, patient populations, and care teams
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members
- Accurately document patient care in the electronic medical record
- Minimum 1 year of recent (within the last year) acute care Medical-Surgical RN experience - REQUIRED
- Candidates must be currently working in a Med-Surg role
- Willingness and ability to float across multiple medical-surgical units
- Active Florida RN license or approved multistate (compact) RN license
- Compact license holders must obtain Florida licensure within 60 days of relocation
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 30 days of start
- AHCA Level II background screening and fingerprinting required
