Overview
Assist physicians in patient care across multiple hospital settings, including inpatient units, emergency department, clinic, and ICU. Responsibilities typically include patient rounds, writing orders, consulting with specialists, and coordinating diagnostic and therapeutic testing.
Assignments- Inpatient assignment
:
Assist the attending physician in care and management of patients on inpatient units. Tasks include making patient rounds, contributing to daily care decisions, writing orders, interacting with consultants, and coordinating the scheduling of therapeutic and diagnostic tests. Frequent bedside visits are made to assess patient status and direct care. May additionally see patients in the clinic environment. - Emergency Department assignment
:
Assist Emergency Department physicians in comprehensive medical care within the emergency department, chest pain observation unit, and any roles designated by the supervisory physician. Consult with the supervisory physician to determine appropriate patient care. Acute Care ARNP or PA required. - Clinic assignment
:
Under supervision of an attending physician, provide diagnostic and therapeutic healthcare coverage for patients. Duties may include taking medical histories, performing physical examinations, coordinating lab tests and diagnostic studies, prescribing medications, and educating patients. Other responsibilities may include sharing call hours, providing phone coverage, and seeing admitted patients within the hospital. - ICU assignment
:
Assist the attending ICU physician in patient care and management. Responsibilities mirror those of the inpatient assignment, with emphasis on ICU-specific protocols. Frequent bedside visits to assess patient status and direct care. Acute Care ARNP or PA required.
- Minimum Education:
Master’s degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant. - Credentialing:
Must meet requirements set forth by the Medical Staff Office to obtain and retain privileges to practice as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse within UF Health Shands Hospital and/or the Shands UF Healthcare Network. - Licensure/Certification:
Current and clear license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the State of Florida. BLS is required.
