Job Summary and Responsibilities

The RN Coord EMS is responsible for the efficient and effective coordination of EMS patient offloading, ensuring seamless transitions of care, and fostering a collaborative environment with EMS partners. This role involves clinical resource provision, staff education, equipment management, and adherence to established standards of care. The RN Coord EMS also provides oversight and delegates patient care to team members, contributing to a culture of patient‑centered care.

  • Greeting and offloading all EMS arrivals during scheduled shift, ensuring proper reception of the patient and initiating patient care.
  • Proper handoff of each patient to receiving RN for continuity of care.
  • Acting as a clinical resource person for staff, providing education as needed.
  • Providing oversight, prioritizing, and delegating patient care based on accurate assessment and staff capabilities.
  • Collaborating with EMS partners to create an environment of teamwork that supports improved outcomes.
  • Participating in quarterly educational and training events with hospital staff and EMS agencies.
  • Accurately scanning and recording equipment and supplies to ensure appropriate charges and inventory control.
  • Preparing and ensuring equipment in the EMS offload area is functional.
  • Recommending and implementing courses of action, including training and development of relief EMS RNs.
  • Assisting in managing department flow through coordination with assigned Clinical Nurse Coordinator.
  • Making decisions regarding activities based on Administrative Operational Standards, Nursing Administrative Standards, Human Resource Standards, and standards of Care for the unit, in collaboration with other members of the management team.
  • Contributing to a culture of patient‑centered care by ensuring a quiet healing environment.
  • Meeting Assumption of Care standards as set by HCA.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
Experience Required
  • Florida RN license and/or approved multistate RN license required. Compact license holders have 60 days to obtain the Florida license after relocation.
  • BLS‑AHA Provider issued card required within 30 days of start.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • NIH Stroke Scale must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
  • TNCC required within 1 year.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Spt, or ACLS Instructor must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
  • 1+ years experience PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt, or PALS Instructor must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
