Your Specific Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing services to clients in Primary Care, Family Planning, STD, HIV, Immunizations, Pediatrics and Employee Health Clinic under the supervision of the Community Health Nursing Consultant.
  • Work at outlying satellite clinics as needed; mileage is not reimbursed. Maintain fundamental knowledge of the Incident Command System.
  • Nursing Assessment: apply nursing principles and techniques in the care and treatment of clients.
  • Administer prescribed medications ensuring the rights of medication administration and log all medications administered.
  • Utilize nursing protocols in client care and provide client and family education with appropriate referrals.
  • Assess Immunization status and administer immunizations per protocol using correct techniques as outlined in the procedure manual.
  • Accurately document all services provided.
  • Quality Improvement and Assurance
  • Assist with chart reviews and other QI activities to improve clinic functions and meet the DOH mission and goals.
  • Attend professional meetings to maintain and update nursing skills.
  • Attend staff meetings or read minutes to stay informed about organizational changes.
  • Assist with orientation of new employees and students.
  • Team Building
  • Assist with orientation of new employees and students.
  • Function as a team member by using effective communication, assisting practitioners, and demonstrating leadership to support staff.
  • Employee Health Nursing duties and responsibilities
  • Review New Employee Health Packets.
  • Initiate and update FL SHOTS and HMS records.
  • Conduct TB risk assessments and IGRA testing for high-risk exposure employees.
  • Maintain records of immunizations for new employees and coordinate with billing as needed.
  • Coordinate Annual Employee Flu Immunization Clinic and maintain employee health records (immunizations, screenings, results, etc.).
  • Maintain record of high-risk exposure employees for annual Fit Test requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    • Knowledge of professional nursing and public health principles, practices, and techniques in specialized areas
    • Knowledge of preventive health care theories and concepts
    • Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology
    • Knowledge of use of medical equipment (glucometer, blood pressure devices, thermometer, scale, etc.)
    • Knowledge and application of infection control practices
    • Knowledge of immunization practices and schedules
    • Skilled in applying nursing theory in specialized areas
    • Skilled in nursing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
    • Skilled in phlebotomy and venipuncture
    • Proficient in computer software (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
    • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize workload, and coordinate assignments
    • Ability to work independently and as a team
    • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, verbally and in writing
    • Ability to educate health topics to diverse populations
    • Ability to multi-task in busy environments
    • Commitment to accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to procedures and policies

    Qualifications
    • BLS/AED Certification
    • Valid Driver’s License
    • Preferred:
      Experience with child and adult immunizations and schedules
    • Experience with FL Shots online immunization information system
