Overview
Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) at Bio Life Plasma Services, a Takeda subsidiary. Reports to the Plasma Center Manager (or Assistant Manager) for operational guidance and to the Center Physician for medical issues. The role supports plasma center operations and donor care, with emphasis on customer service and quality.
Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies per SOPs, including development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs when there are unacceptable findings or guidance needed on medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
- Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
- Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation by occupational health/ER is required; refer to EHS guidance.
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats within the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs.
- High school diploma or equivalent, including graduate of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
- Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-Paramedic.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
- Fulfill state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy.
- Satisfactorily complete the FDA-approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

USA - FL - Gainesville. U.S. Hourly Wage Range: $22.80 - $31.35. The actual wage offered depends on qualifications, experience, and location. U.S. based employees may be eligible for incentives and various benefits described in the posting.
