The Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) provides comprehensive, evidence-based pediatric primary care services at Archer Family Health Care (AFHC), a nurse-led rural health clinic operated by the University of Florida College of Nursing. As a key member of an integrated, interprofessional healthcare team, the ARNP delivers high-quality care to infants, children, adolescents, and young adults through age 21, with an emphasis on health promotion, disease prevention, and the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic health conditions.
The ARNP is responsible for independently assessing, diagnosing, treating, and managing pediatric patients in accordance with Florida statutes, evidence-based practice guidelines, and organizational policies. Services include conducting well-child visits, annual physical examinations, developmental and preventive screenings, immunizations, management of acute illnesses and injuries, and ongoing care for chronic medical conditions. The incumbent collaborates closely with behavioral health providers, nurses, social workers, faculty, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care in a rural practice setting.
In addition to direct patient care responsibilities, the ARNP participates in quality improvement initiatives, population health activities, clinical program development, and efforts to enhance patient outcomes and access to care. The incumbent is expected to engage in monthly provider and interdisciplinary team meetings, contribute to the continuous improvement of clinic operations and care delivery processes, and support the academic mission of the College of Nursing through the precepting and clinical education of graduate nursing students.
The position requires a commitment to excellence in clinical practice, collaboration, service to rural and underserved populations, and the advancement of nursing-led healthcare delivery.
Comprehensive Patient Assessment, Diagnosis, and Documentation
Provide comprehensive primary care services to pediatric patients from infancy through age 21. Obtain and document detailed patient histories, perform age-appropriate physical examinations, assess developmental milestones, evaluate acute and chronic health conditions, and formulate differential diagnoses. Accurately document assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, and patient encounters in the electronic health record (EHR) in accordance with clinical, regulatory, and organizational standards. Develop individualized plans of care and monitor patient progress through follow-up visits and ongoing care management.
