Lactation Consultant

HCA Healthcare is seeking a Lactation Consultant-RN to support breastfeeding patients and families in our hospital setting. In this role, you will provide expert lactation assessments, develop individualized feeding plans, and deliver hands-on education on breastfeeding, pumping, and newborn feeding. You will collaborate with physicians and nursing teams, document care in the electronic health record, and support quality and Baby-Friendly initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Provide bedside lactation assessment and support to postpartum patients and infants
• Develop individualized breastfeeding care plans using evidence-based practices
• Educate parents and families on breastfeeding techniques, pumping, and safe formula use
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and care teams to address complex feeding issues
• Document lactation assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the medical record
• Lead breastfeeding education classes and support groups as needed
• Identify and escalate high-risk feeding concerns to appropriate clinicians
• Participate in quality improvement and Baby-Friendly or similar initiatives
• Maintain current knowledge of lactation standards and regulatory guidelines
