Dr. Denis Valle, Assistant Professor in the School of Forest Resources and Conservation at the University of Florida (UF), is seeking a PhD graduate research assistant with strong interest in the statistical/quantitative aspects of environmental sciences or public health.
The research focuses on tackling important problems in environmental sciences and public health by creating and using innovative Bayesian statistical models. The position involves developing and applying novel Bayesian models in environmental sciences or epidemiology, and creating interactive tools for decision-making. It is located at UF in Gainesville, FL. Duties include presenting research at conferences, applying for funding, and assisting team members with statistical analyses.
Applicants should be highly motivated, independent, enthusiastic, proficient in programming languages such as R, Python, MATLAB, or C++, and capable of communicating research results effectively through publications and presentations.
Minimum requirements include:
- Background in environmental sciences or public health/epidemiology with experience or interest in Bayesian models;
- Background in statistics with interest in environmental sciences/epidemiology;
- GRE scores: 153 Verbal, 155 Quantitative, 4 Analytical/Writing;
- BS or MS degree with GPA > 3.5;
- Meeting UF and School of Forest Resources and Conservation admission requirements.
