Job DescriptionOPS technician position in Chemistry/Biology. Two technician positions are available in Dr. Feng Tang's laboratory in the Department of Chemistry to support ongoing research projects leveraging Sequencing and Proteomics techniques to study how DNA damage induced by environmental exposure and endogenous metabolism contributes to cancer and aging-related diseases. There will be opportunities to learn and contribute to exciting research. The lab utilizes various techniques (analytical chemistry, biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology, NGS sequencing, nanopore sequencing, proteomics, and bioinformatics) in mammalian cell culture model systems.
The position involves performing routine experiments, contributing essential support functions, and maintaining day-to-day operation of the lab. Training opportunities include genome editing, mass spectrometry, NGS sequencing, nanopore sequencing, bioinformatics, confocal microscopy.
$15.00/hr
Required Qualifications- Recent Bachelor's degree in Chem/Biological Sciences (or related field)
- Self-motivated, responsible, energetic, able to solve problems, and work in a diverse laboratory environment
- Excellent organizational, communication, time management, and record-keeping skills
- Experience in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Bioinformatics (undergraduate lab experience)
- Excellent interpersonal and social skills, enjoy working and interacting with people
- Detail-oriented, strong organizational skills
