The Martins lab is looking for a self-driven Research Assistant II with strong work ethics and high attention to detail to work on NIH-funded projects aimed at developing immune interventions against HIV/AIDS using nonhuman primate animal models. Candidates with a background in molecular biology and immunology will be given preference. The successful applicant will be expected to work under general supervision, independently and in collaboration with others;
perform research for projects and provide interpretation and initial analysis of results; investigate, troubleshoot and modify methods and procedures; assist in designing experiments; perform other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required or assigned.
- Protein expression and purification; ELISA; cell culture; and data analysis and interpretation.
- Compile experimental data into reports, providing interpretation and analysis of results.
- Organize and prepare experimental data for publications and scientific communications. Assist with scientific writing.
- Design and procure specific scientific components, such as custom plasmids, viral vectors, and recombinant proteins.
- Provide guidance and training to department/laboratory personnel.
- Assist with the management and procurement of laboratory equipment and supplies.
- Contribute to the tracking of equipment statuses and help schedule and coordinate equipment maintenance with servicing companies.
Required:
A bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and three years of experience; a master's degree and two or more years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred:
Equivalent to above but may place emphasis on molecular biology and immunology background.
Salary:
Commensurate with experience.
