The Martins Lab at the University of Florida (Department of Plant Pathology) is seeking motivated graduate students to join a multi-state USDA-NIFA project:
Hunting for Healthy Soils. This research investigates how soil micro-predators shape microbial communities and promote plant health in organic production systems.
The project involves laboratory and greenhouse experiments, molecular analyses (qPCR, metagenomics), and bioinformatics/statistical data analysis. The selected candidate will also disseminate findings through scientific publications and presentations. Applicants should have experience or coursework in plant pathology, microbiology, soil science, nematology, or molecular biology. Hands‑on experience with molecular techniques, statistical data analysis, strong collaborative skills, and good communication are highly desired. This opportunity offers collaboration with top-tier institutions across a multi-state initiative, hands‑on experience with complex soil biological interactions, and direct contributions to sustainable organic agriculture.
