A 7-month postdoc position is available to work on funded NSF project, "Collaborative Research: NSFGEO-NERC:
The history of the Earth's magnetic field strength over the last five million years:
Filling in the southern hemisphere gap". The position is in the Department of Geological Sciences, under the direction of Dr. Courtney Sprain. The candidate will be responsible for conducting 40
Ar/39
Ar geochronological analyses at the UF Argon Geochronology Lab in addition to conducting paleo intensity experiments at the UF Neil Opdyke Paleo magnetism laboratory.
We seek candidates with expertise in both high-precision 40
Ar/39
Ar geochronology and paleo magnetism. In the project, the candidate will use the IsotopX NGX noble gas mass spectrometer, and experience with this instrument is preferred.
Expected Salary:
$58,656.00
Required Qualifications:
PhD in Earth and Planetary Sciences, Geological Sciences, or a closely related field.
Preferred:
Experience with 40
Ar/39
Ar geochronology and paleo magnetism.
Experience running the IsotopX NGX noble gas mass spectrometer.
