Job Summary and Qualifications
  • Demonstrates ability through‑out shift to successfully work the following cooking positions: AM Tray Line, Cafeteria, Salad, Dessert, PM Tray Line/Cafeteria
  • Prepare food for the patient tray line, cafeteria and special functions. Working the Hot line or salad or baking areas.
  • Works at a rate consistent with other cooks.
  • Completes assignments in an accurate and timely manner
  • Meets food production requirements for patient, staff and physicians.
  • Properly covers, labels and stores leftover products.
  • Uses first‑in, first‑out system for product rotation.
  • Insures that proper supply of product is available for the cafeteria/patient meal service.
  • Demonstrates accurate food preparation techniques on modified diets.
  • Accurately orders and reports produce received in poor condition.
  • Demonstrates creativity when using garnishes.
  • Portions and plates ready to serve desserts as production sheets require or in compliance with standard portion control guidelines.
  • Maintains knives and utensils, in a safe and sanitary manner.
  • Consistently minimizes waste and effectively utilizes leftovers. No overproduction.
  • Monitors the quality in foods prepared including serving temperatures, appearance and palatability.
  • Insures food is ready and set up prior to meal time.
  • Monitors portion controls.
  • Insures proper usage of cleaning and sanitizing chemicals. Uses red bucket.
  • Demonstrates good leadership skills.
  • Insures effective sanitation, personal hygiene (hair restraints), infection control techniques and meets health department requirements.
  • Responsible during shift for clean and organized production area, reach‑ins and walk‑ins coolers.
  • Follows cleaning schedules.
  • Cleans spills immediately
  • At the beginning of the shift, checks‑in with supervisor for assignment.
  • Follows supervisor’s instructions.
  • Practices professional relations skills with patients, guest, other department staff and co‑workers. Notifies supervisor on any problems encountered.
  • Attends Mandatory Department Meetings and educational in‑services.
  • Prepares specially ordered food in a timely manner
  • Provides assistance on patient tray line and cafeteria when requested by supervisor.
