This is a 12 month non‑tenure‑accruing position that will be 100% research (Florida Agricultural Experiment Station) available in the School of Forest, Fisheries, and Geomatics Sciences, in the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, at the University of Florida. This assignment may change in accordance with the needs of the unit.
Responsibilities- Perform research and engineer aquaculture systems for the production of Diadema antillarum, nearshore hard bottom sponges, and stony corals. Experience and a strong record of publication in aquaculture and restoration of marine species and systems is required. Strong capacity for statistical computing in the R program and demonstrated scientific writing ability are also required.
- Participate actively in graduate education by serving on graduate committees, supervising thesis and dissertation research, supervising undergraduate research, and publishing results with graduate students.
- Seek contract and grant funding actively to support the program.
- Supervise and mentor research technicians working on funded projects.
- This assignment may change in accordance with the needs of the unit.
- A doctorate (foreign equivalent acceptable) in Biology, Aquaculture, Ecology, or a closely related discipline is required.
- Experience and a strong record of publication in aquaculture and restoration of marine species and systems is required.
- Strong capacity for statistical computing in the R program and demonstrated scientific writing ability are also required.
- Demonstrated skills in verbal and written communication, interpersonal relationships, and procurement of extramural funding.
- Must be supportive of the mission of the Land‑Grant system and have a commitment to UF core values.
- At least three years of demonstrated experience in Diadema antillarum aquaculture research as well as current AAUS diving qualification and experience in coral husbandry and nearshore hard bottom sponge restoration research.
- Postdoctoral experience is highly desirable.
