The agency for persons with disabilities (apd) works in partnership with local communities to support people with developmental disabilities in living, learning, and working in their communities. Apd provides critical services and support for customers with developmental disabilities to reach their full potential. The agency serves people with spina bifida, autism, down syndrome, children ages 3-5 at high risk of developmental disabilities, cerebral palsy, prader-willi syndrome, phelan-mcdermid syndrome, and intellectual disabilities.

Salary range
$34,760.00 - $38,236.00 annually $1,336.92 - $1,470.62 bi-weekly
The hiring salary may exceed the maximum posted salary.
Specific duties and responsibilities
The incumbent holds a position of trust and adheres to the policies and procedures that govern the agency for persons with disabilities and tacachale to ensure the safety of the residents, employees, and visitors of tacachale.
Patrols the grounds to ensure unoccupied buildings are secured, looking for potential hazards or suspicious activity. Controls access to tacachale, processes outgoing and incoming resident trips, assists emergency responders, and responds to all calls for assistance center wide. Answer incoming calls, connect callers to desired parties, documents resident incident reports, maintain several logs, monitor the fire alarm panel, and notify officers as necessary.
In emergencies, contacts the appropriate staff.
Compiles and prepares reports, both manually and via computer.
Assist or perform routine fire drills as required.
Conduct vehicle inspections weekly, with cursory inspections daily. Maintains cleanliness and condition of security vehicles.
Perform other related duties as required.
Position requirements
* a valid florida driver's license.
* corrective lenses restricted license are acceptable provided the driver wears the corrective lenses while operating a state vehicle.
* must be willing to perform essential services before, during, and after an emergency.
* must be willing to work beyond the normal work schedule to maintain minimum coverage levels and meet the needs of the agency.
* must maintain certification in prevention and safety strategies (pass).
* must be able to lift 40 lbs.
* employees of the agency for persons with disabilities are required to demonstrate total commitment to outstanding customer service. This includes but is not limited to, acting in a responsive, professional, courteous manner with the employees, customers and public we serve at all times.
This position may be required to perform essential services before, during, and after an emergency per apd op 2-0035.
This position is critical to the safety and supervision of residents and may require the incumbent to work beyond their normal work schedule to maintain minimum coverage levels in the facility.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Knowledge of:
* safety procedures required in security.
* computer applications i.e., microsoft office.
Ability to:
* lift 40 pounds.
* plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
* establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
* communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing).

* transfer calls using a switchboard console.
* maintain certification in prevention and safety strategies training (p.a.s.s.).
* maintain certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (cpr) and direct care in-service (dci).
