We are seeking a dedicated Crew Leader to join our growing team and take charge of daily field operations.

Job Summary: The Crew Leader is responsible for supervising a small field crew and ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality installation of erosion and sediment control measures. This role involves hands‑on work in the field, equipment operation, customer interaction, and detailed documentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a small crew in the installation of erosion/sediment control systems.
  • Ensure high‑quality job completion and compliance with project specifications.
  • Manage material inventory and ensure all required materials are loaded onto the trailer prior to job departure.
  • Operate and maintain skid steer and other construction equipment.
  • Load and secure equipment on trailers, including boom‑strapping.
  • Drive a truck with a 36‑ft gooseneck trailer to and from job sites (clean driving record required).
  • Supervise crew safety and enforce safety protocols at all times.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with customers on‑site.
  • Accurately complete and upload work logs and job documentation into Merit’s electronic storage system.
  • Coordinate with Merit’s internal staff to relay job updates, material needs, and scheduling information.
Qualifications
  • Prior leadership experience in a field or construction environment.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Experience operating skid steers and hauling equipment on trailers.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple job sites.
  • Proficient with mobile apps or tablets to complete digital work logs.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Able to work in varying weather conditions and perform physical labor as needed.
  • Knowledge of erosion/sediment control systems is a plus.
