Plumber Operations Position
This is a highly responsible and professional position serving as the Plumber OPS within the Maintenance Unit. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team player who works seamlessly across all sections within the program office. This role requires the use of independent judgment, a proactive approach to responsibilities, and exceptional attention to detail.
Responsibilities- Install, maintain and repair plumbing and heating fixtures and accessories, including faucets, sinks, valves, vents, water coolers and fountains.
- Operate state‑owned vehicles as required.
- Open clogged drains and maintain sewer lines.
- Maintain high and low pressure steam boilers, ensuring safety devices and controls are operating properly, and clean boilers, hot water heaters, etc.
- Requisition materials needed to complete jobs.
- Cut and thread pipe for installation of water and steam lines.
- Repair kitchen and laundry equipment as necessary.
- Knowledge of procedures and methods for installing, repairing and maintaining plumbing and heating fixtures and accessories.
- Skill in using pipe cutters, reamers, threading machines and other specialized tools and equipment.
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Physical ability to bend, push, pull, stoop, walk, lift 50 pounds and climb ladders.
- Capability to work in inclement weather, loud noise environments, and occasionally in close, dark areas.
- Certification in CPR, ACT, First Aid, and basic aggression control techniques; contact with people served requires these certifications.
- Ability to ambulate grounds and read blueprints.
- Two years of plumbing experience.
- Vocational or technical training in plumbing and pipe fitting, with 720 classroom hours substituting for each year of required experience.
- Class E driver’s license (Classified Driver’s License).
- Provide supervisor names and phone numbers for all employment periods.
- Explain any employment gaps to prevent hiring delays.
- Ensure all work history, education, training, knowledge, skills, and responses to pre‑qualifying questions are verifiable.
- Avoid using “See Resume” in place of required responses.
