Overview
Solar Impact is searching for a skilled Journeyman Electrician to become a valuable member of our team in Gainesville, FL. This position involves handling electrical tasks connected to the upkeep, servicing, and setup of solar power systems for residential and commercial customers. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to carry out inspections, evaluate electrical systems, and interpret blueprints effectively.
Responsibilities- Perform electrical work for the upkeep, servicing, and installation of solar power systems for residential and commercial customers.
- Inspect electrical systems, evaluate conditions, and interpret blueprints.
- Install electrical equipment following NEC guidelines.
- Utilize a variety of tools and techniques to maintain and repair electrical systems.
- Determine best practices for new electrical systems installations.
- Mentor and supervise apprentice electricians.
- Ensure compliance with safety requirements and OSHA regulations.
- Collaborate with a team to complete solar installations; maintain organized tools and components in installation vehicles.
- Participate in safety, electrical, and solar installation training sessions; maintain a safe and well-organized work environment.
- Communicate professionally with customers and meet project deadlines; work overtime, nights, weekends, travel as needed.
- Be able to read and interpret electrical blueprints; read certification requirements; hold a valid Journeyman Electrician certificate or equivalent experience.
- Must provide a copy of your Journeyman Electrician's certificate.
- Proficient in wiring, common electrical tools, and various electrical components.
- Completion of an electrical apprenticeship program.
- Minimum of 3 years of prior electrical and construction experience.
- Must live in the Gainesville, FL area.
- Familiarity with the NEC is essential; ability to work safely at heights, including roofs and ladders, following Solar Impact protocols and OSHA safety regulations.
- A valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and insurability for driving company vehicles.
- Candidates should exhibit the ability to work independently and as part of a team; meeting attendance requirements.
- Successful completion of a background/MVR check, pre-employment physical and drug screen.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; attention to detail.
- Proficiency with computers, particularly MAC/iOS systems (preferred).
- Experience in solar and/or roofing (a plus); OSHA 10 certification preferred; experience as a crew lead preferred.
