Maintenance Mechanic - Per-diem​/PRN

UF Health Rehabilitation Hospital Gainesville – Affiliation with Select Medical. Maintenance Mechanic – Hospital or Healthcare position located at 2708 SW Archer Road, Gainesville, FL 32608.

Schedule:

PRN/per‑diem. Compensation: $25/hour.

• Assists with maintenance, monitoring, and performance of preventive maintenance on all equipment including refrigeration, heat exchanger, HVAC, electrical, emergency backup electrical systems, and hot water systems at the direction of the Director of Plant Operations.
• Monitors operation, adjusts, and maintains refrigeration, chilled water, and air conditioning equipment; boilers, ventilating and hot water heaters; pumps, valves, piping and filters; other mechanical and electrical equipment; records readings and makes adjustments where necessary to ensure proper operation of equipment.
• Analyzes the operation of various systems, determines the cause of any problems/malfunctions and takes corrective action as required.
• Assists with the installation and repair of plumbing, piping, tubing; wires single and three‑phase motors.
• Installs and rebuilds pumps and motors; installs and rebuilds air compressors; heat exchangers; replaces bearings in all types of motors; replaces seals on pumps; installs and repairs piping, valves, filters, hot water systems and associated controls; assists other mechanics and operators with major repairs and maintenance of building and equipment.
• Installs, repairs, and maintains electrical controls, switching and motor controls.
• Troubleshoots and performs minor repairs to secondary electrical circuits, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, utility and refrigeration systems.
• Monitors operation, repairs, and maintains refrigeration, water cooling and air conditioning equipment; boilers, heating, ventilating and hot water equipment; pumps, valves, piping and filters; other mechanical and electrical equipment; records readings as necessary to assure proper operation of equipment; reports any problems/malfunctions.
• Complies with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.

• Comprehensive knowledge of maintenance, repair, and safety procedures required.
• Current and valid Driver’s License required.

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Trade or Vocational School background preferred.

Post offer employment testing (POETs) are completed as part of the onboarding process and are to be completed before an employee’s first day of work.
