Job Description
  • Assists with installing, repairing, and preventatively maintaining ceiling tiles and ceiling grids.
  • Assists with installing, repairing, and preventatively maintaining fixed classroom seating, windows, window frames, and window screens.
  • Assists with installing, repairing, and preventatively maintaining various types of flooring, vinyl and ceramic tiles, wall bases, and molding; assists with building countertops.
  • Assists with installing, repairing, and preventatively maintaining metal and wood doors and door frames, mortise locks, hinges, exit devices, door closers, handicapped door operators, and other door hardware.
  • Assists with pouring, forming, and finishing concrete; laying block and brick; and repairing plaster.
  • Supports other trades and contractors; cleans/maintains shop and all related equipment.
  • Operates UF vehicle (truck).
Normal Work Schedule
  • Schedule may vary depending on location.
  • 40 hours per week.
  • Position considered as Essential Personnel as defined by UF Policy.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • State of Florida Class E operator license (required).
  • Criminal background check (required).
  • Post-offer health assessment (required).
  • Beginner knowledge of safe work practices in maintenance and repair work.
  • Skill in using hand tools and equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to drive or walk to customer/trouble locations.
  • Ability to move or lift weights (such as ladders, tools, and equipment) weighing up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to climb.
  • Ability to reach above shoulders frequently.
  • Ability to kneel.
  • Ability to bend repeatedly.
  • Ability to pull and push repetitively.
