Position Summary

IQ Fiber is seeking an OSP Supervisor to work alongside, grow, and mentor a team of OSP construction technicians and OSP engineers. As an OSP leader, this role also carries project management responsibility for residential projects, including assessment, surveys, and scheduling.

This is a hands‑on leadership role that combines technical depth in network architecture, troubleshooting, and splicing with day‑to‑day team development and field operations support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead personnel administration, training, and development of all field personnel, including hiring, mentoring, evaluating, and performance improvement as needed.
  • Develop team members’ knowledge of network architecture, troubleshooting techniques, splicing techniques, documentation requirements, and end‑to‑end OSP processes.
  • Manage and coordinate outside plant construction using both in‑house and contract resources to accomplish assigned projects; manage contract resources as necessary to supplement project needs.
  • Coordinate field surveys of existing or proposed outside plant installations, including aerial and underground network facilities and associated infrastructure.
  • Lead and model effective troubleshooting practices in the restoration of plant issues, defining root cause and break‑fix alternatives.
  • Meet QC standards and budgetary requirements across all assigned projects.
  • Ensure system compliance with NCTA and FCC regulations and IQ Fiber’s minimum operating specifications.
  • Liaise with other departments to maintain in‑depth technical knowledge of new technology being deployed.
  • Ensure constant compliance with OSHA safety standards.
  • Serve as on‑call management and respond to end‑to‑end OSP needs in the event of a service impairment or outage; support a 24/7/365 operation.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a fiber construction environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of underground and aerial construction techniques; proficient knowledge of optical networks.
  • Clear understanding of fiber design, splicing matrix sheets, and documentation requirements.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Must be able to pass a standard background check, consumer report, and pre‑employment and compulsory drug screening.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word; computer skills sufficient to process trouble tickets.
  • Must have close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus with good hand‑eye coordination.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work after hours and weekends and remain in service during outages until resolved.
  • Ability to maintain readiness for on‑call response, including staying within the local market and being prepared with company‑provided communications equipment.
  • Ability to work emergency schedules during natural disasters and network outages.
