Position Description

Under the general supervision of the Director of Transportation.
Essential Functions- Physically capable of operating any and all school buses owned by Gainesville City Schools.
- Basic literacy skills.
- Possesses or will obtain a valid CDL in either Class A or Class B with passenger, air brake and school bus endorsements.
- Pass annual physical exam by a licensed Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy within 60 days prior to the first day of school, in accordance with the approved examination (DE Form 0514) prescribed by the State Board of Education.
- Submit to and pass drug and alcohol testing as prescribed in Federal, State and Local standards.
- Be of moral character.
- Demonstrate mental and emotional stability which ensures the normal driving competency and efficiency.
- Minimum of 18 years of age.
- Minimum of 2 years driving experience.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- School bus with either manually or air operated seat or door as assigned by transportation director.

Maintain emotional control.
Physical Demands:
Continual sitting, reaching, and repetitive hand/arm movements.
Environmental Demands:
Ability to work indoors and outdoors, moderate exposure to extreme temperatures and vehicle fumes.
Duties & Responsibilities
Employee must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function of the position. The incumbent will adhere to the Georgia Professional Standards Commission’s Code of Ethics for Educators, all Gainesville City Board of Education policies, administrative regulations, school system procedures, and all other applicable professional performance criteria.
Maintenance of criminal history check is required for all employees.
