The Audit Manager works closely with team members across the Firm, including Associates, Senior Associates, Supervisors, and fellow Managers, to deliver high-quality audit and assurance services and build strong, trusted client relationships. This role partners with clients and Firm leadership to navigate audit matters, offer thoughtful insights, and provide practical recommendations that support client operations and goals. The Audit Manager communicates clearly and consistently with both clients and engagement teams, leads audits from planning through completion, supports staff development, and exemplifies Rushton’s values through collaboration, integrity, and a commitment to excellent service.
Job Responsibilities CLIENT SERVICE EXCELLENCE- Serves as the primary point of contact for assigned clients and builds trusted, professional relationships with appropriate client personnel
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of the client’s business goals, strategy, and motivations; serves as a valued business advisor
- Proactively provides relevant insights throughout the year, including industry developments and accounting guidance, to strengthen client loyalty
- Manages client, team, and personal expectations effectively across engagements
- Delegates work appropriately with consideration for engagement economics while supporting team development
- Oversees engagements to ensure timely completion within scope, budget, and quality standards; keeps the Partner informed of progress, risks, and key issues
- Performs additional duties as assigned
- Actively participates in Firm initiatives, including recruiting, inspections, and internal and external learning efforts
- Trains and develops staff through on-the-job coaching and facilitation of internal CPE
- Provides timely, constructive, and balanced feedback to engagement team members
- May serve as a Career Advisor and support staff development planning
- Effectively navigates and leads difficult conversations with clients and team members
- Demonstrates maturity and professionalism as a role model in client interactions, collaboration, and Work Life rhythm
- Meets charge hour, margin, and performance expectations
- Maintains and advances business development goals through intentional relationship management
- Leverages knowledge of client history and prior engagements to improve efficiency and service delivery
- Demonstrates strong awareness of engagement economics, including scope, billing, and profitability drivers
- Identifies out-of-scope work and addresses it with clients in a professional and appropriate manner
- Exhibits strong project management and multitasking skills to meet or exceed time and budget expectations
- Understands and can articulate Rushton’s service offerings across business units
- Participates in networking, proposal development, prospective client meetings, and budget preparation
- Continues to develop negotiation and client communication skills
- Researches, interprets, documents, and applies authoritative guidance to arrive at well-supported conclusions
- Identifies and addresses complex accounting and audit issues
- Applies Rushton’s quality control standards consistently and models professional integrity
