Position: TRAVELING SUPERINTENDENT

Position Summary

The Superintendent reports to a Senior or General Superintendent, Project Manager, or Operations Manager and assists with planning and daily execution of construction projects, managing subcontractor performance across all aspects of the project.

Position Responsibilities
  • Project Financial Responsibilities
    • Awareness of overall project budget and assistance in managing the entire budget.
    • Management of items that CDCC self performs to successful completion within the budget.
    • Perform cost coding to comply with the project budget for purchased or labor items.
  • Preconstruction Services
    • Work with team members during project pursuits to evaluate projects and develop successful completion plans.
    • Participate in plan flips to establish scopes, subcontractor participation, and overall project schedule.
    • Assist in developing General Conditions for the project.
  • Project Start‑up and Scheduling
    • Assist or perform all project start‑up items from the Project Start‑up Checklist.
    • Review and coordinate the Loss Prevention and Quality Control Program.
    • Develop and maintain a project schedule, providing periodic status updates.
    • Respond to schedule challenges and slippage with work‑around plans, supplementation, or resequencing.
    • Evaluate effects of project change directives on the schedule.
  • Project Administration, Coordination and Close‑out
    • Overall responsibility for project safety and quality control.
    • Interpret contract documents and understand scope of work.
    • Assist the project team in developing RFIs.
    • Attend meetings with architects/engineers/owners and provide information, progress reports, meeting minutes.
    • Coordinate with CDCC to ensure clarifications, changes, directives, RFIs, etc., are updated on as‑built drawings and aligned with supervision.
    • Help develop a plan to close‑out a project and execute the field portion.
  • Client Relations
    • Build effective relationships with customers, design team, subcontractors, suppliers, and user groups.
    • Address all issues with a solution‑oriented attitude.
  • Culture, Leadership and Employee Development

Working Conditions
  • Primarily on job sites; wear appropriate PPE as required.
  • Work may require moving to other geographic locations.
Qualifications
  • Up to 4 years of Assistant Superintendent experience preferred, or 4‑6 years of progressive construction‑related trade experience.
  • Previous experience in Carpentry, Field Engineering or Assistant Superintendent with a commercial construction company desired.
  • Organize people, tools, and equipment, and plan/manage multiple activities.
  • Make decisions under tight deadlines with incomplete information.
  • Act with integrity, demonstrating support for company values and meeting/exceeding customer requirements.
