Position Summary:

Full-time faculty position to begin in Fall 2026

Minimum Qualifications:

* MFA in Acting, Theatre, or the Performing Arts (similar field), or MA with significant professional experience or equivalent

* Established professional career as a Stage and/or Screen Actor

* Evidence of continued creative work

* Ability to work effectively in a collaborative setting

* Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching

* Must be willing to work positively and contribute within the already established Gainesville Theatre Alliance

Job

Duties & Responsibilities:

* The load is 12 credits per semester

* Works in collaboration with the Musical Theatre and B.A. Programs

* Teach undergraduate Acting courses as assigned; may include but not limited to Movement, Voice, Script Analysis, Capstone, Theatre History, and other courses within the performance program plans

* Serve as the Program Director for the BFA in Acting for Stage and Screen. Focuses on the BFA Acting for Stage and Screen curriculum development and interdepartmental collaboration

* As the Program Director of the BFA in Acting for Stage and Screen, recruit for the BFA in Acting for Stage and Screen program, the other Theatre Department programs, and Brenau. Collaborate with Admissions and Financial Aid to set the Theatre Talent Scholarship amounts for BFA Acting for Stage and Screen students. Advisor for students in the BFA in Acting for Stage and Screen.

Collaborate and assist with the joint Gainesville Theatre Alliance (GTA) audition events. Travel may be involved

* Better align the BFA Acting curriculum with the GTA structure to simplify cross-enrollment

* Serves on committees and/or conducts other university service responsibilities. Volunteer to serve on GTA committees as needed.

* Maintain professional standing

* Leadership role of 1 per academic year (examples: Acting, Directing, Dramaturgy, or Fight Choreography) as needed. Receives up to 3 credits of reassigned time for the semester the show is produced or a leadership position is needed. If not applied, pick up 3 credit hours of classes. This is determined by the Artistic Director and the Associate Artistic Director of GTA

* Support fellow faculty members, including those within the Gainesville Theatre Alliance structure

* Attend and participate in faculty meetings with both Brenau and Gainesville Theatre Alliance

* Other duties as assigned by the Chair

None

Work Hours:

37.5 hours per week. Hours may be extended to meet the needs of the department.

Appointment Length:

9 months

Environmental and Working Conditions/ Physical Demands and Aptitudes:

Mostly Sedentary work. Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment related to teaching. Prolonged periods sitting and standing. worker is required to have close visual acuity to grade papers, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. Must have the ability to travel short distances, and/or drive a vehicle to deliver and pick up materials.
