Position Summary

The Adjunct Faculty position in the Art & Design department with a focus on Studio Arts offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the academic and creative development of students within a dynamic educational environment. This role primarily involves delivering high‑quality instruction in specialized subject areas, fostering critical thinking, and inspiring artistic expression. The successful candidate will design and implement engaging curricula that align with institutional standards and industry trends, ensuring students gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

Collaboration with full‑time faculty and participation in departmental activities are essential to support a vibrant learning community.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Fine Arts, Visual Arts, Digital Design or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated expertise and professional experience in the studio arts, design and the creative industry.
  • Prior teaching experience at the post‑secondary level or equivalent instructional experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse student populations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with online or hybrid teaching modalities and educational technologies.
  • Professional portfolio or documented achievements in artistic or design projects.
  • Familiarity with curriculum design and assessment strategies in higher education.
  • Active involvement in professional organizations related to arts and design.
  • Ability to mentor students and support their career development within the industry.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver course content that meets academic standards and reflects current industry practices.
  • Engage students through lectures, discussions, workshops, and hands‑on projects to facilitate comprehensive learning.
  • Assess student performance through assignments, exams, and presentations, providing constructive feedback to support growth.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and course materials in compliance with institutional policies.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, curriculum development, and other departmental initiatives as required.

The required skills enable the adjunct faculty member to create and deliver compelling course content that resonates with students and reflects current industry standards. Effective communication skills are essential for facilitating engaging lectures and providing meaningful feedback that promotes student growth. Environmental and Working Conditions

Mostly sedentary work. Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment related to teaching. Prolonged periods of sitting and standing. The employee must have close visual acuity to grade papers and view a computer terminal; extensive reading is required. Ability to travel short distances and/or drive a vehicle to deliver and pick up materials.

Ability to exert up to 15 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Some repetitive motion.
