Job Summary:
The Reliability Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliability, maintainability, and performance of equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, control systems, and safety infrastructure. This role develops and continuously improves preventive and predictive maintenance programs to optimize asset performance, reduce maintenance costs, and extend equipment life in a 24/7 manufacturing environment. Serving as a technical resource to maintenance teams and stakeholders, the Reliability Engineer provides engineering expertise to address day-to-day maintenance challenges, identify potential equipment failures before they impact production, support Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) efforts, improve hydraulic and pneumatic system reliability, reduce breakdowns and delays, and support safe, reliable plant operations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Development and refinement of the preventive/predictive maintenance program in a systematic, professional manner – coordinating all efforts with equipment custodians and maintenance management to ensure the program is properly approved and endorsed by both departments.
- Coordination with planner/schedulers to ensure that correct PM/PdM services and inspections are scheduled and performed when due.
- Administration, control and analysis of all data, records and equipment histories to continually review and refine PM/PdM frequencies.
- Development of engineering solutions to repetitive equipment failures and other reliability problems; implementing ways of reducing the need for maintenance and ultimately eliminating the occurrence of failures. Repetitive failures are identified and the PM/PdM program is refined by:
- Review of predictive and other inspections
- Analysis of equipment histories, maintenance cost reports, and failure reports
- Review of service and inspections records.
- Analysis of work order data
- Specify repair techniques for major repetitive tasks, such as component replacements; develop standards specifying the end product and the resources needed for these tasks.
- Ensure responsible personnel are trained in carrying out programmed maintenance.
- Review developed PM/PdM procedures with operation superintendents and staff: securing “owner” approval prior to implementation.
- Analyze planned idleness of operating equipment to develop and improve PM/PdM schedules.
- Periodically compare PM/PdM frequencies to downtime reports and equipment histories to identify where frequencies require adjustment – up or down. Refine the frequencies on an “economic” basis to avoid “over maintenance”. This is a joint responsibility with the Planner.
Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
- At least 5 years of reliability engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
Qualifications:
- Experience driving continuous reliability improvement initiatives and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) programs.
- Knowledge of computerized maintenance…
