Job Overview

As a PH Registered Nurse Supervisor within the Living Bridge at the Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting the lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.

The Living Bridge in Gainesville, GA.

Job Responsibilities

Supervises, guides, and/or instructs the work assignments of subordinate staff. Provides professional nursing care in accordance with nurse protocols, policies and/or procedures. Focuses on the prevention of illness, injury, or disability, the promotion of health and maintenance of the health of populations. Cares for population with special needs during disasters/emergencies and biological and chemical protocols.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Directs and supervises the program for the client population based on nursing services of a county health department or program.
  • Monitors and evaluates nursing and other clinical programs for the district.
  • Performs assurance activities to ensure that services are adequate, appropriate, and accessible within the community.
  • Provides supervision of the public health staff in a district program setting.
  • Organizes, coordinates, and implements community health services according to agency policies, programs, objectives, and resources available in the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Encourages and facilitates cooperation, pride, trust, and group identity.
  • Fosters commitment and team spirit.
  • Works cooperatively with others to achieve goals.
  • Works and communicates with the general public, internal and/or external customers to provide information, quality services, and/or products targeted to meet the customers’ expectations.
  • Serves as a local public health contact for community agencies and partners.
  • Displays a high level of effort and commitment to performing job duties.
  • Operates effectively within the organizational structure.
  • Demonstrates trustworthiness and responsible behavior.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND one (1) year of nursing experience AND completion of a PHN course within one (1) year of hire AND current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certification.
  • Two (2) years of experience at the lower-level PH Registered Nurse 3 (HCP
    192) or position equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in providing HIV/AIDS specialty care.
  • Experience providing outpatient primary care directed by a physician.
  • AIDS certified Registered Nurse.
