About the Role:Job Summary
Arranges patient bed assignments across the System. Under the direction of the Throughput Coordinator or the Administrative Nursing Supervisor prioritizes and appropriately places patients based on the Patient Placement by Diagnosis Location Bedding Matrix, patient care needs and isolation protocols. Maintains an accurate account of available beds, transfers and discharges occurring across the System and updates the GHA 911 bed count at designated intervals and upon request.
Participates in data collection involving patient flow.
Licensure or other certifications:
Educational Requirements: High School Diploma or GED
Minimum Experience: Minimum one (1) year customer service experience. Knowledge of medical terminology helpful.

Facilitates the patient intake and bed placement process expeditiously.
Actively supports a customer service oriented environment to continually enhance customer satisfaction.
Be fully knowledgeable on all services provided by department including, but not limited to, STEMI, after hours call team activations, and all additional services offered by department as needed.
Monitor all points of entry to assign beds to ensure timely and appropriate placement of patients. Work closely with Administrative Nursing Supervisor to assist in clinical placement decisions and utilizing the Patient Placement by Diagnosis Location Bedding Matrix.
Identifies opportunities for enhancing customer service and improved patient placement.
Communicates with involved departments relating to patient transfer or need for Cath/CVOR team activation.
Maintains confidentiality and respects patients privacy. Performs in a manner that respects HIPPA laws.
Demonstrates a positive, calm, helpful, respectful, team player attitude in all situations with patients, families, Physicians and coworkers. Present a positive public relations image as caring, courteous, attentive.
Assists other team members to accomplish their job duties. Must demonstrate data entry/retrieval and other computer experience as necessary, and accurately completes all documentation required for all transactions.
Completes bed capacity report at the end of the shift and as needed or requested.
Participates in training and orientation of staff members to maintain staff competency and ensure knowledge is updated as more services/duties are added to department. Orients and educates new employees to the department.
Attends/completes mandatory education courses as required by the Hospital and/or Manager.
Receives calls from various hospital units that are requesting bed assignments and assigns them appropriately based on Patient Placement by Diagnosis Location Bedding Matrix.
Attends Code Saturation and Diversion Huddles when assigned and provides updates to the rest of the department.
Must have full knowledge on all transfer processes and patient movement processes for all services.
Performs other duties as assigned.
