About the Role:

Job Summary

The Team Leader provides overall leadership and management of the unit nursing staff. This person manages and coordinates clinical and other activities on the unit to provide quality resident care. This position carries 24‑hour responsibility and accountability to the Director of Nursing. The role shares weekend call coverage for the nursing department.

Minimum Job Qualifications
  • Currently licensed as an RN in the state of Georgia.
  • Associate’s Degree
  • Two (2) years of experience required with at least one year of leadership experience.
Preferred Job Qualifications
  • Preferred licensure or other certifications.
  • Preferred educational requirements.
  • Preferred experience in LTC (Long‑Term Care).

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Ensures clinical staff uses appropriate techniques when giving patient care.
  • Encourages staff participation in all required continuing education programs, in‑services, department meetings or committees.
  • Provides updates to staff on policy and procedure changes of the facility.
  • Monitors compliance in standards of care through observation and provides written documentation.
  • Assesses the status of all residents and provides consultation or assistance to staff as needed.
  • Makes daily rounds and talks with staff and residents.
  • Provides appropriate orientation for new staff.
  • Organizes, coordinates, monitors and evaluates care of residents in the facility.
  • Ensures appropriate staffing levels are maintained on the unit.
  • Accompanies physicians on rounds to answer questions, receive instructions, or note special resident care requirements.
  • Calls MDs for orders (medication, treatment, etc.).
  • Shares clinical knowledge with nursing staff.
  • Assists in coordinating admissions, transfers, or discharges of residents.
  • Reports to housekeeping and maintenance any problems or issues with safety or cleanliness.
  • Ensures adequate supplies are provided on the units.
  • Assists nurses on their unit if needed; works as a Charge Nurse when needed for 7‑3, 3‑11, 11‑7 shifts.
  • Regularly checks emergency equipment to ensure it is in working order.
  • Provides regular updates to the Director of Nursing on any issues identified on the unit.
  • Conducts or participates in regular staff meetings.
  • Participates in the development and application of nursing care plans on the nursing unit.
  • Makes recommendations in matters of hiring, promoting, terminating, or disciplining employees.
  • Keeps current healthcare trends in nursing practice.
  • Follows up on MARs and treatment courses.
  • Verifies end‑of‑the‑month physician orders are correct, complete, signed, and in the chart.
  • Follows emergency procedures and supervises staff participation (Code 99, fire or disaster codes).
  • Assists in yearly budget preparation for the unit.
  • Ensures all resident charges are properly recorded.
  • Completes performance evaluations on employees.
