Summary
The Company Wide Quality Control Manager (QCM) is responsible for ensuring that quality on all facets of construction, quality assurance, and testing meet the requirements of the project’s contract documents as well as the quality goals set by Carroll Daniel. The QCM will play an active role in developing, updating, and executing project-specific Quality Control Plans and will work closely with CDCC staff and subcontractors to ensure compliance is achieved and properly documented.
ResponsibilitiesQuality Control Manager Responsibilities
- Review and understand owner requirements for quality management on a project-by-project basis.
- Perform plan reviews with the project team to address QC concerns, Mock-Up requirements, QC first work inspections, QC protocol, and develop QC-specific checklists for the project.
- Develop and implement Project Specific Quality Control Plans that are consistent with both owner and CDCC requirements.
- Assist in development of the overall CDCC Quality Control Program and in training others in quality management as needed.
- Collaborate with project teams and subcontractors to ensure understanding of project quality requirements and the project-specific quality control program. Onboard new team members and subcontractors to achieve this, setting projects up for success by clarifying quality requirements and expectations before work begins.
- Attend and actively participate in pre-installation meetings with project teams and subcontractors to review material requirements, installation procedures, and testing requirements prior to each construction phase.
- Review submittals on assigned projects to ensure materials and equipment meet contract documents.
- Assist the project team in inspecting delivered materials/equipment to confirm they match approved submittals and contract documents.
- Where applicable, review manufacturer’s installation instructions and ensure installation complies.
- Review project testing and inspection requirements and coordinate with the project team to ensure all tests and inspections are performed, documented, and in compliance with the documents.
- Inspect installed materials to ensure quality workmanship that complies with project requirements.
- Work with the project team and subcontractors to ensure non-conforming work is corrected and well documented.
- Review logs of deficient work items and ensure open issues are resolved.
- Review logs of testing requirements and ensure all requirements are met and documented.
- Complete quality control inspections and prepare reports documenting work performed, deficient items, corrected items, and other pertinent information.
- Attend, witness, and document all third-party testing required by the contract documents.
- Assist the project team with pre-inspections to ensure compliance prior to scheduling owner/client quality assurance inspections of completed work items.
- Perform miscellaneous quality control duties as assigned.
- Make recommendations to project and company leadership for opportunities to improve quality management.
