Position: AIRCRAFT ENGINE MECHANIC with Security Clearance
Duties The primary purpose of this position is:
To serve as an Air Reserve Technician (ART), technical authority responsible for coordinating the work of other journey-level workers to perform/advise scheduled or unscheduled inspections, repairs, replacements, troubleshoot, documentation, build-up and tear down, flight line maintenance and operational runs of aircraft propulsion systems installed or uninstalled, and to provide training to all assigned reservist personnel as required in the accomplishment of duties set forth herein.

Duties:
* Serves as technical authority to perform/coordinate/oversee troubleshooting and analysis of gas turbine engines to determine air worthiness of propulsion systems installed on aircraft on the flight-line and uninstalled in back shop and test cell capacities.
* Coordinates, oversees and performs the disassembly, repair, overhaul, inspection and reassembly of aircraft propulsion systems, sub-assemblies, and components
* Skilled/certified in the operation and maintenance of diagnostic test equipment, on-board electronic equipment, a variety of special equipment, hand, measurement and power tools. Prepares effective training plans to maximize training for assigned personnel.
* Enforces and complies with safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work area
* Certify, utilize and enforce the work produced under the USAF Technical Order Program and applicable commercial aircraft/propulsion manuals. Perform Engine Health Management (EHM) program duties and properly document propulsion system maintenance in historical records and the Maintenance Information System (MIS).
* Removes or installs entire propulsion systems from/on aircraft, test cell and maintenance stand working as a member or leader of a team. Maintain, inspect, operate and certify test cell and hush house. Requirements Conditions of employment

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-8600 Engine Overhaul Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is ability to do the work of an Aircraft Engine Mechanic without more than normal supervision JOB ELEMENTS:
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
* Knowledge of the installation, operation, and repair of gas turbine or reciprocating aircraft engines and accessory systems.
* Knowledge of engine repair practices to identify and correctly choose between alternative methods and trade techniques, adapt accepted repair procedures to new or unfamiliar engines or accessory systems, to anticipate required tools and parts, and to set up the work area.
* Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures, including knowledge of documentation procedures.
* Skill in the use of measuring instruments such as vibration analyzers, pyrometers, engine analyzers, engine diagnostic computer systems, data transfer sets, and test benches.
* Knowledge in the interpretation, certification and use of technical orders, manufacturers' manuals, engine records, maintenance bulletins, and other technical information.
* Ability to troubleshoot engine malfunctions, interpret trouble reports or observed instrument readings, appearances, etc., make a tentative diagnosis; select needed tools and test equipment; and…
