Overview

Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC (MHC) is North America’s largest Kenworth truck dealership group and leasing group. As MHC continues to grow, we are hiring a Mobile Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic to perform heavy‑duty mechanical truck repair and maintenance offsite at customer locations. The technician will build relationships with customers, achieve labor sales quotas, and increase sales to assigned accounts within a designated territory.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine mechanical repairs and maintenance on heavy‑duty truck equipment and related components with general supervision.
  • Coordinate customer repair orders with Service Manager and Shop Foremen for task assignment. Coordinate with Service Advisor for proper work scheduling of all mobile maintenance business.
  • Advise customer of needed service work and suggest additional labor, parts, and body shop sales whenever possible (e.g., Preventive Maintenance Inspections, related service work).
  • Follow safe work practices and procedures, use safety equipment when required, and respond to suggestions for working safely.
  • Maintain proper safety, care, and maintenance of company vehicles assigned to the technician and report any damage to company or customer equipment or property immediately to supervisor.
  • Maintain favorable relations with customers.
  • Create and close repair orders in the MHC business system to document the repair work performed and the time spent completing the repair. Complete paperwork as required to accurately document the work performed.
  • Control business expenses within the approved expense budget and manage tooling and parts inventory on the service truck.
  • Oversee operations of assigned customers in the territory, calling upon key accounts (current and prospective) regularly. Introduce preventive maintenance, new products, and promotions, reemphasize existing products and services, and provide literature as necessary.
  • Achieve labor sales objectives and quota for assigned accounts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Safety‑Sensitive

This position is designated as safety‑sensitive. Performing the duties under the influence of marijuana or any other illegal drug may constitute a threat to health or safety, or a lapse of attention that could result in injury, illness, or death. The role may involve operating, repairing, maintaining, or monitoring heavy equipment, machinery, aircraft, motorized watercraft, or motor vehicles, and handling hazardous materials and/or waste.

Qualifications
  • Minimum three years’ heavy‑duty truck repair experience.
  • A/C, Brake and DOT Annual Inspector certifications required;
    Engine and Component certifications are a plus.
  • Self‑motivated and capable of working with little supervision.
  • Commitment to customer satisfaction and quality repairs.
  • Excellent communication skills and a positive can‑do attitude.
  • Necessary tools to perform position responsibilities.
  • Class A or B CDL and/or DOT medical card may be required depending on the mobile service vehicle.
