This is a full‑time, on‑site role for a Carrier Sales Representative located in our Gainesville, GA office. The Carrier Sales Representative will be responsible for securing carriers to transport customer freight, negotiating rates, coordinating shipment schedules, building relationships with carriers, and ensuring excellent service delivery. This role involves frequent communication with carriers and internal teams to ensure seamless execution of shipment logistics and consistent customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities- Manage and grow a portfolio of truckload carriers by sourcing new partners and maintaining strong existing relationships
- Negotiate carrier rates to maximize profitability while maintaining service and compliance standards
- Own freight execution throughout the full shipment lifecycle, including:
- Covering loads (same‑day and future freight)
- Proactive tracking and check calls
- Ensuring on‑time pickup and delivery
- Collecting and submitting required paperwork for billing
- Grow the truckload carrier base and strengthen long‑term carrier partnerships
- Collaborate with and support the development of the carrier representative team
- Meet and maintain weekly KPI targets, including volume, gross margin, GM%, sourcing efficiency, and service performance
- Participate in regular performance reviews with leadership
- Monitor carrier performance metrics and take corrective action with underperforming carriers, including coaching, rate adjustments, or removal from the carrier network
- Act as the primary point of contact for service disruptions, delays, or failures, driving root cause analysis and corrective actions with carriers
- Ensure all carriers meet company, customer, and regulatory compliance requirements, including insurance, safety ratings, and contractual documentation
- Maintain accurate and timely load updates, notes, and documentation within the TMS and related systems
- Utilize internal data, external resources, and market trends to understand freight conditions and support effective negotiations
- Partner cross‑functionally with operations, customer sales, and leadership to align capacity strategy with customer demand and service expectations
- Identify potential service issues proactively and resolve them quickly to prevent escalation
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support operational needs, service expectations, and business objectives
- 1+ year of experience in freight brokerage or the transportation industry (preferred)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Sales‑oriented mindset with proven relationship‑building and negotiation abilities
- Ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment
- Experience working in a performance‑based role with measurable KPIs and accountability
- Understanding of market‑driven pricing and the ability to negotiate effectively in both tight and soft freight markets
- Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills, including the ability to remain calm and decisive during service disruptions
- High attention to detail with strong organizational and follow‑through skills
