Warehouse Manager, Distribution/ General Warehouse
Position Summary
Responsible for overseeing a wide variety of warehouse activities including shipping and receiving finished goods while maintaining inventory accuracy and associated records. People management responsibilities include hiring and training, planning and assigning daily work, conducting performance appraisals, addressing performance issues, and resolving problems.
Responsibilities- Supervise and assist in daily warehouse and shipping activities: filling and shipping customer orders, satisfying internal shipping requirements, ensuring accuracy of shipments and supporting documentation.
- Receive goods/items from production, package assemblies, and receive into finished goods inventory.
- Ensure inventory transactions are accurately logged and oversee cycle counts and reconciliation activities.
- Measure and report the effectiveness of department activities.
- Develop and maintain departmental work instructions for all tasks.
- Establish or adjust work procedures to meet warehouse demands dictated by customer commitments, production schedules, and workflow.
- Interpret company policies for workers and enforce safety regulations.
- Recommend measures to improve quality of service, increase department and crew efficiency, and improve equipment performance.
- Continuously improve warehouse operations through the use of lean enterprise practices.
- Coordinate activities of individual departments and serve internal customers in collaboration with other supervisors.
- Education:
High School Diploma. - 3+ years of warehouse experience.
- 2+ years of supervisory experience.
- Experience improving inventory accuracy.
- Experience with lean methodologies.
- Forklift certification.
- APICS/CPIM certification is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to perform calculations such as freight estimates, dimensional weight, invoices, and percentages.
- Knowledge of general business computer software and aptitude to learn new software applications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Work Environment Requirements
- Manufacturing environment.
- Lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Require walking, standing, bending, and lifting for long periods.
- Vision abilities required to validate and enter data on computer.
