Adjunct Professor - Construction Management
Subject to criminal background check. Employees must reside in Texas or Oklahoma. Resume & transcripts required in addition to application. Salary – $680 per load unit. Classes scheduled during the day or evenings depending on enrollment. Hours and location are dependent upon course schedule and enrollment.
Job SummaryThis position carries the obligation to uphold the Mission of North Central Texas College through professional teaching, student support, and service to the college and community.
Responsibilities and Duties- Treat students and colleagues with respect.
- Actively contribute to institutional effectiveness, including student learning outcomes and program-level outcomes.
- Focus teaching and outreach efforts on student success.
- Administrative responsibilities: meet class as scheduled; follow departmental policy for cancellations; start and end class on time; maintain accurate grades/attendance records; submit required reports to the Division Chair and Registrar promptly; post office hours and be available to students during that time; provide a timely syllabus to students and the Division Chair; remain organized and prepared for each class.
- Instructional responsibilities: maintain college-level rigor; use a variety of instructional methods; develop appropriate tests, projects, and other evaluation activities; use student course evaluations to improve instruction; communicate effectively and timely with students; provide constructive feedback on assignments; encourage an atmosphere where students can ask questions, offer opinions, and express ideas.
- Institutional responsibilities: communicate effectively and timely with colleagues and other college personnel; participate in departmental meetings and activities.
- Other duties as assigned; responsibilities may change based on departmental needs.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or a related discipline; or
- Associate Degree in Construction Management or a related discipline plus at least three years of work experience in the area of instruction.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Exhibition of respect and professionalism in a spirit of collegiality.
- Ability to promote an effective learning environment in lecture and lab settings.
- TDLR licensing – Journeyman or Master’s in a construction-related field.
- Knowledge of online delivery methods, principles, and techniques.
Three (3) years of experience in the construction industry, including blueprints, codes, construction standards, materials, residential and commercial projects.
Preferred Experience- Four or more years of related work experience.
- Community college and/or public-school teaching experience.
- Online curriculum development and online teaching experience.
- TDLR licensing – Journeyman or Master’s in a construction-related field.
