Job Summary

Teach college courses in electrical theory, series and parallel circuits, combination of series parallel and parallel series circuits. Electric motors and transformers, single and three phase equipment, single and three phase drives, programmable logic controllers, and the use of voltmeters, ohmmeters, capacitance meters, and amp meters. Candidate must work well in a team environment and communicate effectively in an instructional setting, be a self-starter, be willing to work with a flexible schedule.

Travel may be required to various locations. Compensation is $650 per load unit.

It is the responsibility of the teaching faculty to provide learning activities and support that will lead to the achievement of course and program objectives and to contribute to the overall educational environment of the college and community and to provide related services such as academic advising, committee participation, professional development, community development as well.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Treat students and colleagues with respect.
  • Active involvement in issues of institutional effectiveness including student learning outcomes, program level outcomes, and marketable skill achievement.
  • Focus on teaching and outreach efforts on student success.
  • Meet class as scheduled.
  • Follow departmental policy for class cancellations.
  • Start and end class consistently on time.
  • Maintain appropriate records of grades/attendance and submit required reports to the Division Chair and Registrar on time.
  • Post office hours and be available to students during that time.
  • Make an appropriate syllabus available to students and Division Chair in a timely manner.
  • Be well organized and prepared for each class.
  • Maintain college level rigor and require high level of academic excellence from students.
  • Use an appropriate variety of instructional methods to enhance learning.
  • Develop appropriate tests, projects and/or other evaluation activities for courses taught.
  • Consider Student Course Evaluations in the improvement of instruction.
  • Communicate effectively and in a timely manner with students.
  • Provide appropriate feedback on student assignments.
  • Encourage an atmosphere in which students may ask questions, offer opinions, and express ideas.
  • Other duties as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change based on the needs of the department and the institution.
Required Education

Associate Degree in Electrical Technology or related discipline and three years’ work experience in the area of assigned instruction.

Required Skills & Abilities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Exhibits respect and professionalism in a spirit of collegiality.
  • Ability to promote an effective environment for learning in lecture and lab experiences.
Preferred Experience
  • 4+ years’ experience in the electrical industry.
  • Community college and/or public school teaching experience.
  • Online curriculum development and online teaching experience.
Required Experience
  • Three years’ experience in the electrical industry including electric motors, transformers, and programmable logic controllers. Individuals with 8 or more years experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Work experience must be confirmed by letter(s) from employer(s).
