We are seeking a talented Project Engineer (3–7 years experience) to lead and support engineering initiatives across product development, testing, customer‑driven modifications, and certification. This position works closely with customers, state DOT decision makers, manufacturing operations, and the Terra‑Vaults leadership team.
Key Responsibilities Product Development & Customization- Design, model, and document new enclosures, pads, and resin based products
- Modify existing designs based on customer specifications and field performance
- Translate DOT standards, utility specifications, and customer requirements into manufacturable designs
- Coordinate and execute performance testing (e.g., AASHTO, SCTE‑77, ASTM methods, tier/load testing)
- Support DOT approval processes, including documentation, drawings, data packages, and testing reports
- Work with third‑party labs as needed for mechanical, environmental, and certification testing
- Work with operations to design and improve production equipment, fixtures, molds, and tooling
- Assist with process optimization for throughput, safety, and yield
- Tbleshoot production issues tied to materials, molds, and curing
- Interface with customers, distributors, and utilities to understand technical needs
- Support field evaluations and sample testing programs
- Create engineering documentation, drawings, change notices, and bill of materials
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Materials, Manufacturing Engineering or related discipline
- 3–7 years of engineering experience in product development, manufacturing, or industrial hardware
- Proficiency with CAD software (Solid Works strongly preferred)
- Experience with mechanical/structural testing or performance standards
- Strong documentation ability (drawings, test reports, technical communication)
- Comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Exposure to composite materials, polymer concrete, plastics, or cast products
- Experience with DOT, utility, or telecom infrastructure products
- Familiarity with ASTM, AASHTO, SCTE‑77, or similar standards
- Experience working with manufacturing operations or production tooling
- Ability to run FEA, load simulations, or durability analysis
- Curious and motivated to figure things out
- Comfortable talking to customers and operators - not just sitting behind CAD
- Thrives in fast‑moving, entrepreneurial environments
- Hands‑on mindset with willingness to get into the plant or field when needed
