Position Overview
Akkodis is seeking a Design Engineer II for a 03‑month contract at Gainesville, TX (onsite). Pay Range: $45–$49 per hour.
Job DescriptionAs a member of the Safran Seats business, you will play a major role in teamwork that provides over one million seats to major airlines worldwide. Essential Functions- Confers with customers and vendors on conceptual configuration and initial design requirements for various new and ongoing seat programs.
- Reviews design specifications and incorporates them into assigned products.
- Prepares layouts of overall design tasks including structural and articulation systems.
- Defines design standards to maintain commonality with the existing product line.
- Sets goals to complete tasks as expeditiously as possible.
- Prepares advanced bill of materials and long‑lead item list.
- Reviews design packages to assure conformance to latest specifications and regulations.
- Prepares drawings for release.
- Assumes liaison duties when the product reaches various manufacturing stages.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Education: Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field. A Master’s degree will satisfy the requirement for additional design experience.
- Work Experience: Bachelor's degree plus at least 5 years of related design experience;
Master’s degree plus at least 4 years. - Professional
Skills:
Excellent drafting skills in CATIA V5 (or higher) and/or Pro/Engineer; advanced knowledge of aircraft seat products; strong understanding of materials, production processes, and mechanical stress analysis; proficient written communication; functional office equipment skills; clear spoken and written English. - Behavioral
Skills:
Ability to interact successfully with engineering, tooling, and manufacturing departments; effective team collaboration; experience mentoring less‑experienced engineers; strong planning and prioritizing capabilities.
